Now is the Time: Ban and Abolish Nuclear Weapons!

INES Posted on 28th March 2017 by tine28th March 2017

Declaration of Scientists for Peace Germany (NatWiss) of March 27 2017 on the UN-Negotiations for a Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty Today, on March 27, in New York, negotiations start on a treaty “to prohibit nuclear weapons, leading towards their total elimination”. The large majority of United Nations supports the negotiations, except the nuclear weapons states and their allies. The arguments for a Ban Treaty and total nuclear abolition are overwhelming and urgent like never before: [1] Nuclear weapons are the … Continue reading →

INES Posted on 21st March 2017 by tine28th March 2017

Continue reading →

STATEMENT ON THE PLIGHT OF SCIENCE

INES Posted on 17th February 2017 by tine17th February 2017

17th of February 2017 The ethos of science demands adhering to verified facts, even when they run counter to our prejudices, be they of political, moral or religious origin. Scientific assertions are subject to verification and unlike dogmatic views can be questioned. Today the ethos of science is again under attack from many quarters. Populists, nationalists, fundamentalists champion a view that reality comes in many alternative forms from which one can choose at will. Facts are not absolute, but there … Continue reading →
